                            Characteristics of Babies Born to HIV Mothers
                                in Ulin Tertiary Hospital, Banjarmasin

                                               Abstract
            Background  Globally, women are increasingly affected by Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). Almost
            17.3 millions of adults living with AIDS are women and the number has increased in every region in the
            world over the past two years. In 2019, HIV prevalence among pregnant women arose from 4-5%. Vertical
            transmission may occur during pregnancy and the infection may affect the baby. However, characteristic
            of babies born from maternal HIV in Ulin Tertiary Hospital has not been studied. Objective To describe the
            characteristics of babies born to HIV mothers at Ulin General Hospital, Banjarmasin. Methods This study
            is a cross-sectional study using secondary data from medical record. The study population consisted of all
            babies who born from HIV mother from January-December 2020. Results There were 13 cases of babies
            born to HIV mothers. Among all cases, 53.8% infants were male, 92% of the infants had APGAR score of
            7/9, 84.6% infant had normal birth weight, 92% was born at-term, and 84.6% was born through C-section,
            no prolonged hospitalization for all newborn, and no infant was found to be positive after 9 months follow
            up. Conclusion Almost all babies were born in good condition and no babies was found to be infected. A
            good prevention of mother to child transmission management ensures a good prognosis for the baby.

                        Profiles of Premature Babies Admitted in Neonatologyat

                                               Abstract
            Background Prematurity is leading cause of death in the first month of life. Premature birth is one cause of
            low birth weight babies and all of the consequences have big impact on society especially in population health.
            Objective To describe the profile of premature babies in Dr.M.Djamil Hospital. Methods A retrospective
            study conducted based on medical record of premature babies admitted to neonatology unit of Dr. M. Djamil
            Hospital from Januari 2020 - December 2020. Results There were 719 babies admitted in neonatology unit
            Dr. M.Djamil Padang Hospital in 2020, 247 subjects were premature babies. There were 4.5% micropreemies,
            5.7% extremely preterm babies, 27.5% were very preterm and 62.4% were late preterm babies. Based on
            body weight, there were 49.4% LBW, 26.7% VLBW, 9.7% ELBW and 14.2% NBW. There were 8.9% SGA
            babies, 87% AGA, and 4.1% LGA babies. 45.3% infants had HMD, 17.8% had neonatal pneumonia, 16.6%
            had transient tachypnea of new born, 28.7% infants had hyperbilirubinemia and 15.8% sepsis. Premature infant
            had screening ROP, OAE and head ultrasound were 83.4%, 80.6%, 83.4%, respectively, with abnormalities
            ROP 0.4%, OAE 2.8%, head ultrasound 0.8%. There were18.6% premature babies died, 6.9% was late
            preterm babies. The longest treatment was 135 days. Conclusion Mortality rate for premature babies is still
            high, the most complication of lung disease is HMD. ROP screening, OAE and head ultrasound in premature
            babies in Dr. M.Djamil Hospital mostly done.
