                                               Abstract
Background Covid-19 pandemy in Indonesia has occurred for more than one year. The uncertain clinical
environment could trigger burnout in pediatric residents. Objective To investigate the difference of burnout
in pediatric residents in Surakarta, Indonesia, between the early of Covid-19 pandemic and one year after.
Methods This was an analytic observational study conducted twice; first in April 2020 (early) and second
in April 2021 (one year after). A questionnaire-based survey using an Indonesian translation of the Maslach
Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey was conducted online to pediatric residents in Universitas Sebelas
Maret/Dr. Moewardi Hospital, Surakarta. Interpretation of the results was in accordance with the inventory
guidelines. Chi-square analysis was used to calculate the association between each sub-scale (emotional
exhaustion, depersonalization and personal accomplishment) and the time of survey. Results There were
54 and 40 respondents from first and second survey (the response rate were 90% and 80%, respectively).
Between the first and second survey, the prevalence of high emotional exhaustion, high depersonalization
            and low personal accomplishment were 15% (vs. 35%, P=0.025); 11% (vs. 20%, P=0.247); and 64% (vs
.43%, P=0.038). Conclusion There are changes in the domain of burnout in pediatric residents from the
early stages of the pandemic and one year after. The emotional exhaustion increased and the personal
            accomplishment improved significantly.

                                               Abstract
Background Starting in March 2020, the Indonesian government announced social distancing
recommendations and policies led to limitations on gatherings. It changed lives of residents, in particular the
learning process. Pediatric programs in Faculty Medicine had 2 kind of system, cluster system and division
system with remote learning. The goal of these learning systems is to reduce Covid-19’s exposure to pediatric
residents but still met the competencies that must be achieved. Webinars and online seminars have replaced
routine lecture and discussion. Objective To review learning method of pediatric resident during Covid-19
pandemic. Methods This study is a cross sectional study. We collected the data from pediatric resident with a
questionnaire and then we analyzed it with descriptive method. Results There are 81 pediatric residents that
joined this study. During the pandemic, there are 55 residents (67%) did not agree with cluster system and
more engaged with division system with remote learning. There are 72 residents (88%) agree to do all lecture
and discussion in online. Sixty four residents (79%) agree with the changes in night shift schedule. There
are 22 residents (57%) from 38 senior residents that agree to replace network hospital to Covid outpatient
clinic. During this time, no problems in communications between residents and lecturer. Conclusion The
Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic changed many aspects in learning process. Data from
our pediatric program found that the remote learning equally as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
