                                               Abstract
Background The Covid-19 pandemic has potentially interrupted in fellows’ gaining experience and training to
manage subspecialty patients and to perform specific procedures. Academic staff as teachers and role models
of fellows have an important role in solving this problem. Objective To evaluate the teachers’ perspective
on the achievement of subspecialty competence for fellows during pandemic. Methods We administered a
questionnaire to teachers of 14 subspecialty training programs in the Child Health Department, Universitas
Indonesia. Results The questionnaires were completed by 33 teachers, the majority of them (85%) have
taught more than 10 years. When asked about fellows’ role during the pandemic, 88% teachers agreed that
fellows have to dedicate themselves to community, even when not related to their subspecialty. Majority of
teachers (74%) said that they have no problem giving lectures online. The number of teachers who agreed to
take the risk by doing health services was 58%. The subject used many kinds of media and various platforms
to do online learning. Even though they admitted that there was a decrease in the number of the patient and
also difficulties in finishing the thesis, majority of the subjects (79%) said that the fellows still could achieve
the subspecialty competence. Conclusion The academic staff admitted that there were many problems with
the pandemic impact on the study, but the majority of teachers' perspective believed that the fellows could
achieve their competence in subspecialty as required.

                                               Abstract
Background During Covid -19 pandemic the pediatric spesialist study center strives to maintain students
study completion. We sought to analyze whether target for study completion is hampered by Covid -19
pandemic. Objective To compare candidates participate in national evaluation before and after Covid-19
pandemic by means number of participants, proportion of graduates, and participants study duration.
Methods We performed an observational study using database from the Pediatric Specialist Study Universitas
Udayana. As Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia was announced on March 2020, we used the date as an
anchor then collecting data until the most recent online national evaluation (ENol) comprising a 1.5 year
duration for the after pandemic group (March-August 2021). The 1.5 year prior to pandemic offline national
examination (ENT) data (August 2018-February 2020) was collected as a comparison to the first group.
Chi-square and independent T-test were used in analysis using SPSS with α<0.05 considered significant.
Results The data comprised 6 ENOLs and 6 ENTs. There were 52 candidates participated the ENTs and 33
participated the ENOLs. As much as 96.4 % and 96.9% candidates passed the National Evaluation before
and after pandemic (Fisher Exact test, P= 0.644). Mean of study duration before and after pandemic were
            10.38 (SD 1.44) and 9.58 (SD 1.73) semesters, respectively (independent T-test, mean difference 0.809,
P=0.022, 95% CI 0.118 to 1.15 ). Conclusion Less candidates participate the national evaluation after
Covid-19 pandemic, but the proportion of graduates is similar between the two national evaluations with
shorter study duration documented after pandemic.
