Abstract
Backgrounds Congenital hepatoblastoma diagnosed in the first month of life, has been reported has a higher
rates of survival and low rates of morbidity today. Objective Here we illustrate a rare case of congenital
hepatoblastoma in Balikpapan. Case A 12-days-old male was admitted to Dr. Kanujoso General Hospital
Balikpapan because of abdominal mass, cephal hematome and icteric. Radiological investigation of the
abdoment demonstrated a 6 cm x 5,5 cm x 7 cm mass at the right anterior, right posterior and left medial
hepar, which led to the suspicion of hepatoblastoma (pretext III). Blood examination revealed the high level
of alpha feto-protein (AFP) >1000 IU/mL. Patient discharged because of againts medical advice. At 6 months
old, abdominal CT scan showed the mass size was 5 cm x 4,5 cm x 3,9 cm at the right anterior and the right
posterior (pretext II), spontaneous downsizing aproximately 60%. Unfortunately, once again the parents
prefer to delayed medical treatment until the child 1 years old. We have different situation here, because it
is said in may jurnals that favorable survival outcome could be achieved with complete tumor excision and
adjuvant chemotherapy. Conclusion An interesting case of congenital hepatoblastoma, whose downsizing
without any treatment, has been reported.
