Parents' Perspective on Covid-19 Vaccination for Adolescent

Abstract
Background The COVID-19 pandemic has sparked the need to develop a rapidly effective and safe vaccine
to prevent infection. The incidence of COVID-19 among adolescents aged 12-17 years is approximately
double that of children aged 5-11 years. For children under the age of 18 years, parents are usually the
decision makers regarding their children’s vaccination. Objective To determine the parents' perception
of the COVID-19 vaccination for adolescents. Methods A cross-sectional study with a consecutive
sample conducted from June to August 2021 at M. Djamil Hospital, a closed online survey of 135 parents.
Results A total of 135 respondents were included in this study. Most of the respondents were mothers (66.6%),
worked as health workers (38,5%), and had a bachelor's degree (68,1%). Most of the respondents are willing
to have their children receive the vaccine (86.6%). Most of the respondents had a good level of knowledge
about COVID-19 vaccination for adolescents (90%). Most of the respondents supported the covid-19
vaccination for adolescents (96%). Most of the respondents had received information about COVID-19
vaccination for adolescents through electronic media (53.3%). Conclusion Most of the respondents have a
good level of knowledge and support on COVID-19 vaccination for adolescents.

Internet Addiction and It’s Related Factors Among Adolescent during Covid-19
Pandemic

Abstract
Background The Covid-19 pandemic has had a major impact globally. Education is also having an impact,
schools are currently conducted online. Teenagers who are attending online school will spend more screen
time. Teenagers often feel lonely due to social restrictions, so they will look for escapes over the internet.
These condition can lead to an increase in screen time, resulting in an increase in internet addiction among
adolescents. Objective To determine the prevalence of internet addiction during the Covid-19 pandemic
and the relationship of several socio-demographic factors with the incidence of internet addiction.
Methods The study design was cross sectional, involving 332 teenagers students of junior high school/
senior high school/ vocational school, conducted online by filled the questionnaire of the socio-demographic
factors and internet addiction detection questionnaire (kuesioner deteksi adiksi internet/KDAI).
Results The prevalence of internet addiction among adolescent was 29.8%. Socio-demographic factors related
to internet addiction are screen time for entertainment activities ≥ 3 hours (P=0.001, adjusted OR 4,309,
95%CU 1,833 to 10,129) as well as poor parental supervision in internet use (P=0.037, adjusted OR 1,827,
95%CI 1,038 to 3,215). Conclusion There was no increased in the prevalence of internet addiction among
adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic. Variables that have connection with the internet addiction is
poor parental supervision in use of internet and the screen time for entertainment activities ≥ 3 hours.
